Accelerating Innovation and Delivery for U.S. Army Armored Vehicle Programs

06/23/2025

Background

Softworld has played a key role in supporting the growth and expansion of a leading defense
contractor’s operations, particularly in executing contracts with the U.S. Army’s Armored Multi-Purpose
Vehicle Command at the Detroit Arsenal. We have also assisted in navigating multiple sub-contractual
agreements with Department of Defense (DoD) integrators nationwide. Our team’s involvement has
been instrumental in helping the client incorporate cutting-edge technologies into military vehicle
systems, ensuring mission success for both the U.S. Army and its contractors.

The Challenge

The U.S. Army’s Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) program required rapid, high-quality delivery of modernized vehicle systems designed to improve mobility, survivability, lethality, and situational awareness. This challenge involved implementing advanced open systems architecture to allow the seamless integration of new connected devices and systems. The client needed to support ambitious contracts with the DoD, all while ensuring compliance with stringent security regulations. They also required a team with diverse technical expertise to deliver these innovations while meeting tight timelines and regulatory demands.

The Solution

To meet these challenges, we provided over 50 skilled professionals in several key technical disciplines, contributing to the success of the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle program. Our expertise supported the integration of open systems architecture into military vehicle systems, enhancing operational capabilities across a range of platforms, including ground, airborne, and maritime vehicles.

Our team provided critical support in areas such as:

Software Engineering (C++) for system integration and device performance enhancement.

Systems Engineering (MBSE) for optimizing subsystem integration.

Electrical Engineering (Circuit & Harness Design) for designing reliable and robust electrical systems.

Mechanical Engineering (CAE) for designing and testing mechanical components from concept to production.

Functional Safety Engineering to ensure safety standards were met.

Cybersecurity Engineering to secure communication and operational technologies against potential threats.

Program Management and DoD Compliance to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements.

The Results

Our support enabled the client to successfully meet their program objectives, ensuring that vehicle systems were delivered on time and met the high standards required by the U.S. Army. The integration of advanced open systems architecture allowed for rapid incorporation of new technologies into vehicle systems, improving the Army’s mobility, survivability, and operational effectiveness. Additionally, our security and compliance efforts ensured that all project teams met DoD security requirements, including the acquisition of DoD secret clearances for new hires. As a result, the client was able to scale their operations effectively and maintain a high level of performance while meeting regulatory and security standards. This collaboration continues to support the client’s growth, ensuring the successful execution of defense projects and the ongoing enhancement of military vehicle systems for the U.S. Army.
