SAFe Advanced Facilitator: Master Value Stream Mapping with Our Micro-Credential
Introducing the SAFe Advanced Facilitator: Value Steam Mapping micro-credential
Introduction
In today's fast-paced business landscape, organizations strive to deliver value to their customers efficiently. However, hidden bottlenecks, handoffs and other sources of delay often hinder this process, preventing businesses from delivering value and achieving optimal results.
Enter Value Stream Mapping - a powerful tool designed to help organizations assess and optimize their value streams for faster flow and improved quality.
What is the SAFe Advanced Facilitator: Value Steam Mapping workshop?
The SAFe Advanced Facilitator: Value Stream Mapping micro-credential workshop is designed to prepare you to facilitate a Value Stream Mapping (VSM) Workshop in your organization. A well-executed VSM Workshop unlocks new levels of alignment and efficiency within your organization and offers participants a structured method to visualize, measure, and improve Value Stream performance.
Whether you're an SPC, Release Train Engineer, or Scrum Master/Team Coach, this workshop provides actionable insights to enhance your value delivery process.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the Value Stream Mapping micro-credential, you will be able to:
- Guide your learners to prepare for the workshop.
- Present the content to future participants of the Value Stream Mapping Workshop
What is a SAFe micro-credential?
SAFe is now offering shorter duration learning options that are focused on a specific skill. There are currently two micro-credentials available with more on the horizon:
- Advanced Facilitator: Value Stream Mapping
- Advanced Facilitator: Conflict and Collaboration
Each micro-credential uses a blended learning experience offered in two formats to provide optimal guidance and support:
- The e-learning series. The e-learning portion of the micro-credential is self-paced and is completed prior to the facilitated session. The series provides the information you need to confidently facilitate the Value Stream Mapping Workshop.
- The facilitated session – Is 4-hour instructor led session that can be conducted virtually or in-person. It provides you an opportunity to ask questions of experts, share insights with others, and verify that you have the necessary information to teach others.
Workshop Agenda
The workshop modules to prepare you to facilitate an internal Value Stream Management workshop consist of the following:
- Introduction
This module covers how to get buy-in from leadership and gather the right attendees to dedicate the necessary time and energy to a VSM workshop. It also covers how to set up either a virtual or in person workshop.
- Topic 1: Mapping the Current State
This module introduces you to the Value Stream Map Canvas and establishes the business context. It teaches you how to map the essential steps of the value stream and establish a baseline set of metrics to identify areas of high and low value flow.
- Topic 2: Identifying Bottlenecks
In this module you learn to analyze metrics, identify problem steps and identify causes of delay to prepare you for designing the future state.
- Topic 3: Designing the Future State
In this module you establish value stream performance objectives and then map the future state Value Stream. You will define forecasted metrics and measurable gains to determine its effectiveness.
- Topic 4: Developing an Action Plan
In this final topic you will identify a Business Owner and an Epic Owner and create an Epic and associated prioritized feature to execute via the appropriate ART(s). The goal is to target a PI to begin feature execution of the future state value stream.
