Softworld Transforms $25B Financial Institution with Agile and Modernization
Background
Our client is a $25B in assets financial institution headquartered in Northern Virginia. In order to execute on a strategy to support dramatic growth, our client needed to increase their investment in technology, modernize their infrastructure, and increase capabilities within their application portfolio. With aggressive time frames, leadership embarked on a mission to move their technology project execution framework to Agile. Our client began by hiring new employees with Agile Coach, Scrum Master, and Product Owner experience; however, our client came to the realization that additional resources would be needed to truly accelerate adoption and execution.
The Challenge
Through several long-term relationships with senior managers who recently joined our client from prior Softworld clients, we were called in to provide additional resources and leadership to run projects, increase awareness of the value of Agile, assist in defining their Agile roadmap and the unique aspects that made sense in the current client environment, provide mentoring to employees who were new to the Agile methodology, and fill key roles within the IT organizations.
The Solution
Over approximately 18 months, 70 Softworld consultants were assigned to a range of projects. Skill sets included Agile Coaches, Scrum Masters, Technical Product Owners, Technical Leads, and Software Engineers who brought deep technical experience working within Agile teams. Working with our client’s Agile Transformation Leadership, our consultants were able to demonstrate the value of the new methodology by completing projects on time, within budget, and met user requirements and expectations. We helped refine and advance the state of Agile usage, assisted in the introduction of Kanban, and brought Agile to areas such as infrastructure and business projects that had not considered using Agile.
