Why an SPC role is important

The role of a SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) within an organization is crucial. SPCs are certified change agents who combine their technical knowledge of SAFe with a motivation to improve an organization's software, systems, and Agile business processes. They play a critical role in building a guiding coalition and leading change conversations across different business departments and organizational hierarchies. SPCs bring together the necessary expertise, knowledge, and motivation to drive change, implement SAFe practices, and help organizations achieve business agility.

What is a SAFe Certification Pathway

SAFe’s advanced certification paths are role-specific learning plans designed for those who are experienced in their SAFe role and desire to take their skills to the next level. The pathways combine different learning experiences to upskill participants through self-paced SAFe Skills, self-paced eLearning modules, facilitated Micro-credential workshops and concludes with a facilitated Learning Lab to demonstrate your newly acquired skills.

SAFe’s Adv. SPC certification pathway is designed for experienced SPC’s that want to grow their skills and distinguish themselves in their career. The certification pathway is cohort based comprised SPCs who are led by a distinguished SPCT that guides the cohort through the following curriculum:

  • Writing OKRs: This is a one-hour, self-paced SAFe Skills eLearning module and should be completed prior to attending any of the Micro-credential workshops.
  • Developing a Transformation Strategy: This is a four-hour SPCT facilitated workshop with a required eLearning with a module prerequisite.
  • Excelling with Lean Portfolio Management (LPM): This is a four-hour SPCT facilitated workshop with a required eLearning with a module prerequisite.
  • Leading by Example: This is a four-hour SPCT facilitated workshop with a required eLearning with a module prerequisite.
  • Coaching a Culture of Continuous Improvement: This is a four-hour SPCT facilitated workshop with a required eLearning with a module prerequisite.
  • Learning Lab: The learning path concludes with a four-hour SPCT facilitated lab where SPC practice and demonstrate to the SPCT that they have acquired the desired skills to complete their Advanced SPC certification.

Prerequisite

Members of the cohort must complete their SAFe 6.0 SPC upgrade and have real world experience as an SPC.

Commitment

As an Advanced SPC cohort member you are required to complete all eLearning, attend all micro-credential workshops and the final Learning Lab.
